What Is Independence Day Really All About?
Fireworks create dazzling explosions of color across the night sky as family and friends come together to enjoy the warmth of summer and, more importantly, to celebrate the birthday of America.
4th of July celebrations are widespread across the nation; it's one of the few holidays where our entire country essentially shuts down because of the widespread festivities. Independence Day has come to be more than just a celebration of our independence, but rather a celebration of the values we encompass as a nation and a people.
The first celebration included a 13-gun salute, in honor of the 13 colonies, as well as a special dinner for congress.
