Promotional Ideas Make Summer Branding Fun
The summer represents a unique opportunity for promotional products. The weather and activities mean that a properly chosen product, printed with a custom logo or sentiment, will be used outside, carrying the message farther than it would in other seasons. Although there are many vacations, businesses slow down and schools close, there are plenty of events that summer promotional products can support. From 4th of July barbecues and company picnics, to end of school celebrations and awareness events, there are plenty of ways to fit custom printed giveaways into tight budgets. These summer promos are not only low cost; they deliver big return for the advertising dollar. Here are a few ideas to get the creative planning going.
Lip Balm - Protect lips from the high sun of summer. Your clients, customers and staff will appreciate a custom labeled lip balm with SPF sun protection. This low cost giveaway is a great way to stay within summer promotion budgets while giving a message a long exposure. Use lip balm as a health awareness tool at hospitals and health fairs to raise awareness of skin cancer dangers and other sun related issues. These budget friendly giveaways are always available in a variety of delicious lip smacking flavors.
High Flyer Disks - Kick off the vacation season with a beach and park standard. A promotional high flyer disk is a fun giveaway for 4th of July office parties, end of school year celebrations, and corporate retreats with a summer theme. Basically a flying banner for a logo or message, the large imprint area will be seen every time these fun toys are taken out at the beach or park. Summer fun will be on every recipients mind when they receive a flyer disk.
T-Shirts - Businesses and organizations will get maximum summer promotional exposure with a custom t-shirt. Used as a gift for participating in awareness walks or runs, t-shirt promotions have the added benefit of being used long after the event. A perfect way to promote a small business, local restaurants, bars and other community shops, customers will be happy to wear their free tees and provide complimentary advertising.
Beach Towels - Most vacations are taken during the summer for obvious reasons, warmer weather, kids are off from school, and of course, the beaches are open. Most people visualize the sun and sand of a beautiful beach for their summer getaway, and in addition to their sun block and beach ball, they are sure to bring a beach towel. These oversized towels are large and are able to carry a logo or message in a big way. This imprint size and usefulness makes a custom beach towel a great gift for employees during company picnics or spring appreciation events.
Start planning for events now with promotional items that will compliment the sun and fun of summer. Custom items that will be used and appreciated both at home and on vacation make the most out of your promo budget.

National Day Parade – A Patriotic Extravaganza
Heralded as one of the most important days in the Singapore calendar, the National Day Parade commemorates Singapore's independence. Essentially a national ceremony, the parade brings together throngs of locals in celebration of the most iconic day of the Singapore's history and culture.
Tracing back to its history, the first National Day Parade took place on 9th August 1966. The event was organized one year after Singapore gained independence from Malaysia. The ceremonial proceedings of the day included a speech by the First President of Singapore, Mr. Yusof bin Ishak while standing at the grandstand of the City Hall steps. Accompanying the President was the First Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kaun Yew, and a number of members of the Government. This was followed by a march past by six military contingents, including the SPDF, the Republic of Singapore Police, the Singapore Infantry Regiment and a mobile column of the SIR. In addition, civil contingents as well various school children took part in the march past, which began from City Hall and went on to the city streets including Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sims Avenue, Little India, Woodlands, Bukit Batok, Bishan and Eunos, to name a few.
Adding further lustre to the National Day Parade was the three military bands which provided the march past with the sound of military music. The spectacular procession was complete with the participation of the Singapore Fire Brigade, filling the mobile column with a number of fire trucks, aside from its fleets of armoured tanks and military vehicles. A highlight was the Aerial display, which heightened the atmosphere with a number of planes whizzing fast above the viewers. These fighter aircrafts take to the skies, executing fan-out manoeuvres to create a splendid salute to the nation. This is followed by the aircrafts performing a bomb burst, trailed by streams of smoke.
Since then, the National Day Parade has been held annually, usually at the Float@Marina Bay, the National Stadium or the Padang. Having snowballed to become one of the biggest national events in Singapore, the day is hyped up by the media attention, coupled with a number of festivities that take place around the major cosmopolitan districts. As the nation revels in the joys of the National Day Parade, the most memorable event takes place during the climax of the parade, where spectacular displays of fireworks illuminate the bright skies. Igniting the passion of the locals, the fireworks explode amidst the picturesque backdrop of the endless sky, creating a kaleidoscopic vision of wonderful colours. The visual vista of dazzling lights complements the decorations of the streets, where a common sight would be a large number of Singaporeans decked out in the patriotic colours of the Singapore flag; red and white.
For the traveller in search of a luxury hotel Singapore, an ideal accommodation would be Raffles Hotel Singapore. This Singapore hotel offers the perfect ambience to embark on a Singaporean adventure, whilst residing in the comfort of its opulent rooms and suites.

The 4th of July is a great time to barbeque, so be sure to include plenty of hamburgers, hotdogs, salad and corn on the cobb to your menu. For a fun, festive dessert, try this beautiful and delicious red, white and blue trifle.
Here is what you'll need:
2 8oz packages of softened cream cheese
½ cup sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
2 cups whipped cream
2 quarts strawberries or raspberries
2 quarts blueberries
Beat together the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla extract until it is fluffy. Fold in the whipped cream until combined. You will need a 4 qt serving bowl for the trifle. Reserve 20 strawberries or raspberries and ½ cup of blueberries for later. Place 1/3 of the cream cheese mixture in the bottom of the serving dish. Try to stop yourself from licking the spoon, it will be a challenge, but you can do it. Layer with half of the berry mixture. Put another 1/3 of the cream cheese mixture in and then the rest of the berries on top of that. Put the remainder of the cream cheese mixture on top. Now you can lick the spoon, go ahead, you know you want to. Finally, use the strawberries and blueberries you put aside to make an american flag on top of the trifle and try to resist digging in until your guests arrive. Once they are all there, it's every man and woman for themselves.
After indulging in the creamy goodness, you'll need something to wash it down. This patriotic shooter is fun to look at, and even better to drink.
You will need:
1/3 oz grenadine
1/3 oz peach schnapps
1/3 oz blue curacao
Pour the grenadine into a shot glass. Float the peach schnapps in next and then the blue curacao. The colors will remain separate and create a flag-like appearance. Remember to grab one of these shooters for yourself, they won't last long.

Food for the Fourth
When talk of 4th of July Celebrations start to swing into gear, it seems like food is always the first thing on people's mind. Beyond the spectacles of fireworks are the inevitable cook-outs; family and friends gathering to bask in the warmth of summer and celebrate the birth of our nation. Kids run around playing backyard baseball while the grown-ups congregate around the grill.
Certain trends may come and go, but from watermelon and strawberries to hot dogs and hamburgers there are certain elements of the holiday's food that remain staples or increase in popularity as time goes along. We decided to do a quick poll around the office to get an idea of what everybody thought were the crucial foods to have around for cookouts this Independence Day.
5. Chocolate Covered Strawberries – A lot of different fruits received votes, with watermelon almost making the cut, but in-terms of individual fruits 4th of July chocolate strawberries came away as the winner. You can make them at home, find them at a local store (perhaps as part of an Independence Day Gift Basket), or even order them online from a variety of outlets. Check out dippedfruit.com
4. Wings – Some said they wanted them sizzling hot; others were fans of milder varieties, but wings were on a lot of people's minds. Everyone seemed to have their own favorite versions, ranging from top-secret family recipes that take hours of preparation to Tyson's frozen wings. But regardless of preference on brands or hotness be sure to keep celery on hand as most of our wing fans here said the combo was crucial.
3. Hot Dogs – Just about American as the holiday itself, nobody was too surprised to see this one make the list. As with wings, people had different preferences on brands, and the list and combinations of condiments was pretty extensive. To be honest some of the condiment choices were a little bizarre, but ketchup and relish were highest on the list.
2. 4th July Fruit Baskets – While chocolate covered strawberries made the list as an individual fruit, most people enjoyed having a variety of fruits laid out; combinations of summer favorites like melons and berries. Someone in the office had just received one so there was a lot of buzz about Edible Arrangements 4th July fruit baskets. We've had a few of them delivered to the office and the fruit has always been extremely fresh, as well as breathtaking in-terms of design. Their 4th of July gift baskets would definitely be worth taking a look at to bring to your gathering. Check out EdibleArrangements.com
1. Hamburgers – The hands-down winner in this little poll of ours is certainly an Independence Day classic. They're juicy, they're delicious, and..well…did I mention they're delicious? As with hot dogs there was some variety with condiments, but ketchup, barbecue sauce and cheese were the most popular three (not necessarily in that combination).
So there you have it…get that grill ready, pull out the fruit and have a delicious July 4th!
