Pub Quiz Help, things you really need to know
Presenting the Pub Quiz
Here's a check list of things to remember before you actually start the pub quiz night.
1. Have you printed enough handout sheets? It's impossible to say how many teams you will get at first but after a few weeks you will start to have a good idea. If you have 15 tables in the room then print 15 hand out sheets, I call them quiz sheets, they're the ones that the teams write their names on and write their answers on.
2. Quiz picture round handout sheets. If you've got 15 teams then print 22 quiz picture rounds. If you have a quiz team of 4-6 players then they should be given 2 quiz picture rounds. It's not nice for half the team to be looking at a quiz picture round upside down. You will also get quiz teams of 2 which means you don't need to print double the amount of quiz picture rounds as there are quiz teams. if you need picture rounds download them here http://www.pub-quiz.net/pub-quiz-picture-round.htm
3. Do you have enough pens and do they all work? Might seem petty but the little things are important, I check my pens before I leave home, it only takes a minute. Attention to detail makes for a smooth professional pub quiz night.
4. Is the pub quiz night well advertised? It should be advertised outside on a chalk board at least a week before the quiz night and there should be well placed A4 posters inside too. A very good place to put the posters are in the toilets, probably the best place of all. Make sure you have the prizes on the posters too.

5. You need to lay down the rules very clearly at the start of the pub quiz.
Here is what I always say:
"Please do not shout the answers out" Also be aware that people may arrive after you have started the pub quiz and they won't have heard the rules. It is vital that you tell all late arrivals that they must not shout the answers out. And I mean ALL people that arrive late even if it means you have to say it 10 times, trust me, it is worth the effort. People constantly shouting out the answers will destroy your pub quiz.
"Spelling doesn't matter unless it's a spelling question" This is supposed to be a fun quiz night and who cares if people can't spell. As long as the answer looks right they get the point as far as I'm concerned.
"Only write down one answer to each quiz question, unless I ask for more. If you write down more than one answer then we will not know how to mark it and you will get no points." People try to cheat this way, or they didn't listen to you so they don't deserve to win anyway, which they probably won't.
"NO using your mobile phones to Google or Wiki the answers, anyway it would probably cost you more to do this than the prize is worth, also if anyone catches you cheating you lose 10 points." Do look out for people cheating with their mobiles, I've seen it a lot lately, mainly by the teenagers.
"You can use the back of your quiz sheet all you want. To make notes of questions you may be stuck on or for any working out." Sometimes I actually recommend they turn their quiz sheet over and write down part of a question I'm about to read out. For example "which word can go before fall, closet and works to make 3 new words?"
"We will have a short break after each quiz round so you can get a drink at the bar, go to the toilet or go outside for a cigarette, or all 3!" Absolutely vital this one. It's good for business, after all the pub needs to sell beer and the smokers need to be kept happy too.

Palin Drill Baby Drill article
President Obama seemed to be succumbing to Sarah Palin's infamous call to "Drill baby, drill", her public plea for americans to drill domestically. Last week the president announced that he was implementing steps to speed up drilling to SPEED the drilling process in the US.
According to the New York Times, "The Republican-led House passed three bills in the last 10 days that would significantly expand and accelerate oil development in the United States, saying the administration was driving up gas prices and preventing job creation with anti-drilling policies."
Palin received a lot of flack after the BP oil spill for her slogan on drilling. But ever since the recent sky-rocketing prices at US gas pumps, the tides seemed to have taken a complete turn since Obama's promise for more domestic drilling.
"Obama needs to really get serious about drilling domestically," Sarah Palin, former half-term governor of Alaska said on Fox News last month. She went on to say, "We need to concentrate on domestic drilling," and "extract responsibly the God-given resources that we have domestically." She also added that the rising fuel prices were a result of supply and demand.
But Palin still has her critics, according to greentechmedia.com, "…it's not supply that the U.S. has to increase. In fact, in a global oil market, no amount of increase in U.S. production will influence oil prices given the relative size of our oil reserves. "Drill, baby, drill" is an economically and environmentally bankrupt policy. The United States is already the world's third largest producer of crude oil. Adding some incremental production is not going to impact the price at the pump in a global petroleum market.
Kevin Boyles, CEO of California based oil and gas company, Team Resources had this to say on Palin and her policies. "She definitely is a fiery, animated and interesting person. "Drill baby drill"? I do support drilling in Alaska and offshore. I also believe we should take special care when drilling in eco sensitive areas. Maybe some of the additional regulations which I expect to be imposed following the BP incident could help move this initiative closer to a reality."
Regardless of Palin's countless critics, perhaps she was right on the money with this one. And hopefully in the near future, Americans will feel the beneficial effects of domestic drilling at the pumps and ultimately, in their wallets.

Use Party Clip Art to Give Your Celebration an Affordable Custom Flair
Using party clip art when planning an event or celebration is a creative and affordable way to complement your theme and create an unique atmosphere that will make your party your own. With so many free or reasonable resources available, you can choose a variety of images that will bring a cohesive look to all the elements of your event and allow you to customize everything from the invitations to the favors.
If you are planning a luau or beach party, you can create invitations by attaching images of palm trees, hula dancers, flowers, or leis to a pair of sunglasses or a bottle of suntan lotion. Carry the theme into your decorations by building a surfboard from cardboard or styrofoam and covering with tropical clip art images, print Hawaiian pictures and glue to the pots of tropical plants, and if you are in a public venue you can even label washroom doors with male or female surfers. Use clip art to decorate sand pails for food containers, drinking glasses, or serving trays. Create your own version of luau picture bingo, or design an album cover for a cd of island music and give as favors at the end of the party. Duke University is Prominent for Excellent Libraries and Museums
A private research university that was located in Durham, North Carolina in United States, Duke University offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional education to the students enrolled. But the highlight of the university is its extensive chain of libraries and museums in the campus.
Brief Background
Originally the institution was founded by the Methodists and the Quakers in Trinity in 1838. It moved to Durham in 1892 and was renamed as Duke University after the name of the Washington Duke, the father of donor James Buchanan Duke.
Campus Features
Campus of the university spans across 8,610 acres of land in three contiguous campuses and marine lab in Beaufort. Academics, research, and athletics apart, Duke is also known for the sizable campus it has got. Dominating feature is the Collegiate Gothic architecture topped by the Duke Chapel. Forests surround the parts of campus. While the east campus has Georgian style, the west campus has Gothic style of architecture.
