Commercial photographer Hampshire
I recently undertook a commercial commission for an excellent designer in Hampshire. I spent a day capturing natural photographs in an aerospace business in Southampton.
This is where I add value to a project as a photographer. I change an otherwise fairly ordinary looking commercial factory into a set of contemporary and interesting images.
I have worked in Hampshire as a commercial photographer for over 20 years. When I started, commercial commissions were normally art directed and involved a photographer's assistant and photographer to carry loads of heavy lighting and medium format photography kit. Most Hampshire based companies would commission photography via an ad or design agencies and the photo shoot would be visualised so I would have to try and capture good commercial images that related to the visuals. This process was very time consuming and it took a long hard day to shoot half a dozen images. I decided about 10 years ago that this commercial photography process was slow, expensive and lacked any spontaneity.
All my commercial photography commissions wether they are in Hampshire or London are shot without art direction. The client will brief me with a shot list and then will let me capture good creative photography throughout the day. As a commercial photographer working within tight budgets and time constraints, I can now produce a wide variety of contemporary commercial images in a single day.
Search engines have also had an effect of photographic commissions. They have allowed clients direct access to photographers and therefore the photographer has to be able to work directly with the end client and extract a photographic brief from the client that allows the photographer to fulfil the client's needs.

American Pickers Meets Storage Wars – Vintage Looking Bottles for Decoration Uses
Traveling along with The history Channel's American Pickers as Mike, Frank and Danielle scour the backwoods of American looking for hidden treasures, and bantering back and forth with Barry, Darrell, Brandon Jarrod and Dave, on A&E's Storage Wars are two of my favorite activities on a dull and dreary day in New Jersey. Whether it is finding a rare piece for a great price on American Pickers, or buying a room-full of clothing stacked on top of a chest of coins from the 1900s on Storage Wars, both shows are chock-full of surprises, twists and turns. But my favorite thing to see on these shows is when the everyday items are found and then transformed into a beautiful piece, like a battered dresser being transformed into a beautiful piece of furniture, or an old clay water pot being cleaned up and used as a decorative flower pot.
However, I can't spend my time on the road and in storage centers after a long week of work, so I am led to the internet to find inspiration around me and of course, cheap and beautiful decorations. One of my favorite decorating items is a simple, clean glass jar. You can find almost anything to put in a glass jar without it looking unsophisticated. Paper clips, spare change, dog treats, gum balls, flowers, cookies, candies, nails, pens, you name it, it looks clean cut and sophisticated when placed in a glass jar. Plus, container products are quick and easy organizational materials.

In my experience using stock video clips is helpful in many ways.
