National Day Parade – A Patriotic Extravaganza
Heralded as one of the most important days in the Singapore calendar, the National Day Parade commemorates Singapore's independence. Essentially a national ceremony, the parade brings together throngs of locals in celebration of the most iconic day of the Singapore's history and culture.
Tracing back to its history, the first National Day Parade took place on 9th August 1966. The event was organized one year after Singapore gained independence from Malaysia. The ceremonial proceedings of the day included a speech by the First President of Singapore, Mr. Yusof bin Ishak while standing at the grandstand of the City Hall steps. Accompanying the President was the First Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kaun Yew, and a number of members of the Government. This was followed by a march past by six military contingents, including the SPDF, the Republic of Singapore Police, the Singapore Infantry Regiment and a mobile column of the SIR. In addition, civil contingents as well various school children took part in the march past, which began from City Hall and went on to the city streets including Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sims Avenue, Little India, Woodlands, Bukit Batok, Bishan and Eunos, to name a few.
Adding further lustre to the National Day Parade was the three military bands which provided the march past with the sound of military music. The spectacular procession was complete with the participation of the Singapore Fire Brigade, filling the mobile column with a number of fire trucks, aside from its fleets of armoured tanks and military vehicles. A highlight was the Aerial display, which heightened the atmosphere with a number of planes whizzing fast above the viewers. These fighter aircrafts take to the skies, executing fan-out manoeuvres to create a splendid salute to the nation. This is followed by the aircrafts performing a bomb burst, trailed by streams of smoke.
Since then, the National Day Parade has been held annually, usually at the Float@Marina Bay, the National Stadium or the Padang. Having snowballed to become one of the biggest national events in Singapore, the day is hyped up by the media attention, coupled with a number of festivities that take place around the major cosmopolitan districts. As the nation revels in the joys of the National Day Parade, the most memorable event takes place during the climax of the parade, where spectacular displays of fireworks illuminate the bright skies. Igniting the passion of the locals, the fireworks explode amidst the picturesque backdrop of the endless sky, creating a kaleidoscopic vision of wonderful colours. The visual vista of dazzling lights complements the decorations of the streets, where a common sight would be a large number of Singaporeans decked out in the patriotic colours of the Singapore flag; red and white.
For the traveller in search of a luxury hotel Singapore, an ideal accommodation would be Raffles Hotel Singapore. This Singapore hotel offers the perfect ambience to embark on a Singaporean adventure, whilst residing in the comfort of its opulent rooms and suites.

Discover the Serious Side of Promoting with Fun Inflatable Parade Balloons
Parades have always been one of the best ways to generate excitement. Usually centered on a holiday such as Veteran's Day, July 4th or Thanksgiving, this fun gathering of the masses is a tradition that goes back well over a century. But savvy business owners and organization managers will take note of one fact: A parade equates to a captive audience. And don't we all just love a captive audience?!
3 Important Strategies for Making the Most of Parade Exposure
Can you imagine anything better than for an entire city or town to line the streets just waiting for you to pass by? But your moment in the sun is short lived, so you'll want every second of your time spent strolling down the street to count. Allow me to offer a few tips for making the most of your parade floats and the event as a whole.
#1 - Create Eye-Popping Parade Floats
This is what everyone has come to see, so you don't want to skimp on your presentation. Whether you go for parade floats on wheels or inflatable parade balloons that soar overhead, you'll want to use big sizes, bright colors and eye-popping designs, so you immediately hook each person's attention as you pass by. Company mascots make for excellent parade balloons as do inflatable costumes and product replicas.
#2 - Bring Giveaways
Most parades these days won't allow you to toss candy or other goodies from your parade floats due to safety concerns. However, you can still walk over to the crowd and hand out giveaways. Come prepared and be creative. You'll want something fun that is well branded. This is a parade after all, not a networking dinner. Inflatable product miniatures, balls, key chains and more are very likely to be kept and used which means your organization's name stays in front of the customer longer.
#3 - Drive People to Your Business
The most successful marketing campaigns are circular in nature. This means they bring the customer 360 degrees. Promote your appearance on your website, in your TV and radio spots and in your print marketing. Then, as your parade balloon travels down the route, hand out giveaways. But don't stop there. Attached to your giveaway, include an offer for a discount, a free upgrade, x% off a membership or some other incentive for the parade watcher to come back to your business. Now that's smart marketing!
Start planning now. Holiday parades occur about every three months or so. There are also high school and college homecoming parades, military parades and others. Each will require you to have a parade float or balloon to participate. Choose an event that most closely aligns with your target customer and you're sure to have a blast while drumming up some business.

Branson Show Tickets – A Good Way to Honor Veterans
Branson's Veterans Homecoming Week is November 5-11, and it's definitely not too early to get Branson show tickets and spend time with your favorite vet.
The festivities start with the opening ceremony at Branson's Sight and Sound Theater, November 5 at 12:30 pm. There will be reunions for veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf War. Also scheduled is the 235th Marine Corps Birthday Ball on November 10 at the Branson Convention Center from 5 pm to Midnight.
The annual Veteran's Day Parade is scheduled for November 11 at 11 am. This year, because of road construction, the route has changed. The parade starts this year at the Convention Center's south parking lot, then travels west to Price Street, north on Business Route 65, east onto Atlantic Street, south onto Commercial Street, east onto College Street, and then south onto Sycamore Street and back to the Convention Center.
Female veterans have not been forgotten. A rose-petal memorial ceremony and luncheon are scheduled for November 9 at Keeter Center, College of the Ozarks. Women from each branch of the armed services will be invited to drop rose petals into the fountain in honor of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the military.
Veteran's Homecoming Week festivities close November 11 at 2:30 pm at Tri-Lakes Center.
The week's events are intended to honor all of America's veterans. The day room at Factory Merchants Mall will be open from 9 am to 6 pm for veterans to meet and reminisce.
Naturally, the annual Veterans Homecoming Week draws thousands of veterans and their families, and many shows and businesses are offering special deals to those who have sacrificed much to serve their country. There are many discount packages on Branson show tickets for veterans and their families.
It may be difficult to choose from among the many Branson shows. Veterans Homecoming Week is an ideal time to visit Branson, which is well known for its patriotic, heart-warming performances.
The most popular of Branson shows just may be Yakov Smirnoff's Dinner Adventure. The Russian comedian is a perennial favorite in Branson and his new offers a touching reminder of why our veterans fought in the first place.
The show is a Russian-style circus show whose story follows the lives of Andrei and Marina, two performers looking for love and freedom in the US. The uplifting, patriotic finale often brings a tear to the eyes of veterans and non-veterans alike. However, it is still a Yakov Smirnoff presentation, so there is plenty of laughter, mild audience participation, and fun.
In addition, all audience members are treated to Branson's "only dinner feast," which includes authentic Russian treats such as pierogis (pastries stuffed with potatoes, cheese, and onions), kukuruski (a creamy, hearty soup), and babka, a delicious Russian dessert.
This spectacular show and delicious dinner are offered at a terrific value – especially for veterans. Active military personnel are always admitted free of charge, and veterans receive a significant discount, no matter what time of year.
Yakov Smirnoff's Dinner Adventure is a fitting tribute to our country and its veterans. Get these Branson show tickets, and enjoy this heartfelt tribute to America with your favorite vet.

Five great kids' events taking place on Saturday, 4th June
With the final days of the half-term break upon us there's still time to give the kids happy memories to tell their friends and teachers about when they return to school.
Luckily, there are plenty of events which offer fun for all the family this weekend!
York Carnival will be held on Saturday, 4th June this year. The theme of the parade will be ‘space travel from another galaxy' and there will be lots of out-of-this-world things for young ones to see and do in the city's historic streets on the big day.
yellow Moon has lots of space-related arts and crafts materials for kids who love the idea of space travel. A Design a Flying Saucer kit is great for kids inspired by the intergalactic fancy dress sported by the carnival's parade participants.
Liverpool will also be in a carnival mood on 5th June as the Lord Mayor's Pageant brings even more colour to this vibrant northern city. Kids will love the pageant's Wild Imagination show featuring superheroes and superheroines.
Kids can always design and make Flocked Eye Masks using acrylic paints and fibre pens to get in a superhero mood before attending the pageant.
Elsewhere in Liverpool, watch out for the comedy chefs with knife tricks and giant fruit juggling acts – I suppose you won't be able to miss them!#
The Royal Bath & West Show is also taking place on 4th June. Held in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, the show's Farming for the Family event will give children the chance to see piglets, lambs and calves, watch milking demonstrations, feed a chicken and collect eggs for cooking in the Farmhouse Kitchen.
Kids will be spell-bound by the falconry displays, terrier racing, show jumping and Pony Club games while parents might gravitate towards the cider-tasting stalls.
Children who enjoy the farming activities will also love Farm Animal Hand Puppet Sewing Kits – making the puppets is a great activity to keep them occupied after the show is over.
If you're in London on 4th June between 12pm to 5pm, then why not take the kids along to the Art in the Park festival which is in Hilly Fields, near Ladywell Station. Five hours gives children just enough time to pack in activities like ceramic painting, finger puppet workshops and drumming lessons.
If kids get a taste for drumming at the festival then they will enjoy making (and playing!) native american Hand Drums.
Elsewhere in the capital at Regents Park, there is a weekend of fun to be found at the London Green Fair. World music at the fair will provide the soundtrack to events such as an ethical fashion show. Organisers expect 30,000 people to attend, many of whom will set up camp in the huge children's play area!
