Michigan Football Team Detroit Lions Enjoyed First Half Lead, Kid Rock Entertains Halftime
DETROIT, M.I. – Michigan football fans enjoyed the first half of the Thanksgiving game against the New England Patriots as the Detroit Lions took the lead by a touchdown. It was a fight for the lead for the first half, but the Patriots could not find time or space to fight back the Detroit Lions.
The Lions used their running game to their advantage and unbalanced the Patriots' defense, which led to their success for the first part of the game. The defensive line on the Lions' side was more energetic and held the Patriots' first-half scoring in check. The Lions were happy to get its sack on the New England Quarterback, Tom Brady, in the first half. Had Brady had any time to make a pass, the Patriots may have been able to take the lead; but the Lions pushed hard to keep the Patriots locked where they were.
"We got after him, got him a little rattled," defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh said in a press interview.
There were great plays made by the Lions quarterback, Shaun Hill who sustained a fractured right shoulder injury during the Jets game a couple weeks prior, as nine different Lions receivers caught the ball during the game one resulting in a touchdown. The pressure was intense from the Lions as the first half ended, which was followed by Kid Rock during halftime as Ford Field rocked along with the Lions' halfway victory.
Unfortunately, Michigan football fans only had the first half and halftime celebration to enjoy the game, because once Brady and the Patriots regrouped for the second half, the tables turned quickly.
In the final two quarters, the Lions managed one more touchdown as they tied the Patriots 24-24 in the third quarter after the Patriots pounded out two touchdowns immediately after halftime. But the Lions couldn't hold the Patriots to 24. Brady was back with vengeance and nailed three more touchdowns in the final 21 minutes of the game to bring the final to 45-24.
The Lions came into the game with fire and strength, but it just goes to show what a little bit of pressure can do to a veteran quarterback like Brady as he quickly took that energy and turned it around.
The next game for the Lions is versus the Chicago Bears on December 5, 1:00pm.

The Little Girl Who Lit the Bayonne Bridge with Patriotic LED Lights from LEDtronics
In 2002, right after 9/11, eight-year-old Veronica Granite from New Jersey began a petition drive to illuminate her hometown bridge with red, white and blue lights. She had recently seen tricolor lighting atop the Empire State Building during a visit to liberty State Park and thought the Bayonne Bridge should be similarly decorated in patriotic lights.
Her lobbying efforts inspired the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which maintains the Bayonne Bridge—the fourth longest steel arch bridge in the world.
After seven years, the historic span that connects Bayonne, New Jersey, with Staten Island, New York, wore a necklace of red, white and blue LED lights custom designed by LEDtronics, Inc. of Torrance, California.
Spanning the Kill Van Kull tidal strait and first opened in1931, the Bayonne Bridge was the longest in the world until 1978. Today it carries about 20,000 vehicles per day over its four lanes.
"When we initially showed the bridge Maintenance Group the LEDtronics 180-degree fixture that is used on the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles Harbor, they liked the concept but needed the light to be 360 degrees and in red, white and blue," says Jeffrey Mizel of RF Industries East, the representatives involved with the project.
"As they also wanted to use the existing fixtures, we were provided with samples from the bridge, and LEDtronics engineers set about designing a BSD-1928-OPB-004—a retrofit, mogul-base, 360-degree design," adds Jeffrey.
It was a perfect solution. In 2009 the project was completed, and the 1,675 feet of the main arch span were illuminated with patriotic LED lighting using about 14 each of BSD-1928-OER-004 (red), BSD-1928-TPW-004 (white) and BSD-1928-OPB-004 (blue).
The little girl, now a teenager, was inspired with what she saw.
Other than the Bayonne and the Vincent Thomas bridges, the LEDtronics BSD-1928-001 series of lights are also installed on the South Capitol Street Bridge in Washington, D.C.
There still remain two other bridges to be retrofitted, as soon as a method for using 440 volts to power the LEDs is accommodated.
The Bayonne Bridge was dramatically blown up in the Steven Spielberg-directed 2005 movie War of the Worlds, starring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning.
