A Poem for Love
Have you ever been in a relationship? Sounds like a stupid question, huh? Anyway as stupid as it may seem, not a lot of people can answer it with a yes as you would think. Anyway that is a sweet story for another day. If you have been in a relationship, you are bound to have gone through ups and downs that make or may even break a relationship. I have gone through a questionable moment in a relationship I was in, and since I express myself using short poems, I decided to write about it. Read the free poetry piece from me below and see if you can relate. This poem is sort of an emotional war poem of what could be possibly running through my mind if i found my girlfriend in another man’s arms. Enjoy the rhyming poem. Here is the story;
What if you..... Just once took a chance and went to the bank to get an advance or rather some finance so that you could take your girl to an exotic trip to France to enhance your relationship's romance, only to find your fiancée' who has taken your love into an addictive trance, you find her in another man's arms doing the dirty dance in a very compromising stance that specifically looks like a horse in a wild prance? Would you give your girl a second chance?
Come take a nap on my lap, i am being genuine, its not a trap. Come and relax and sleep swiftly like water from a tap. If you want i can give you a map, i won't hit you or give you a slap, its like lying on a pillow, its not sharp. At most i will give your shoulder a tap or tease you with a gentle hand clap. Since i can't sing to you a lullaby or play a harp, i will rap, but the effect will still be as soothing as a bird's chirp. Come and take a nap on my lap then maybe later i can give you a cap.

Strange Fits of Passion Have I Known
Strange fits of passion have I known:
And I will dare to tell,
But in the lover's ear alone,
What once to me befell.
When she I loved looked every day
Fresh as a rose in June,
I to her cottage bent my way,
Beneath an evening-moon.
Upon the moon I fixed my eye,
All over the wide lea;
With quickening pace my horse drew nigh
Those paths so dear to me.
And now we reached the orchard-plot;
And, as we climbed the hill,
The sinking moon to Lucy's cot
Came near, and nearer still.
In one of those sweet dreams I slept,
Kind Nature's gentlest boon!
And all the while my eye I kept
On the descending moon.
My horse moved on; hoof after hoof
He raised, and never stopped:
When down behind the cottage roof,
At once, the bright moon dropped.
What fond and wayward thoughts will slide
Into a Lover's head!
"O mercy!" to myself I cried,
"If Lucy hould be dead!"

"Why do I love" You, Sir?
"Why do I love" You, Sir?
Because—
The Wind does not require the Grass
To answer—Wherefore when He pass
She cannot keep Her place.
Because He knows—and
Do not You—
And We know not—
Enough for Us
The Wisdom it be so—
The Lightning—never asked an Eye
Wherefore it shut—when He was by—
Because He knows it cannot speak—
And reasons not contained—
—Of Talk—
There be—preferred by Daintier Folk—
The Sunrise—Sire—compelleth Me—
Because He's Sunrise—and I see—
Therefore—Then—
I love Thee—
By: Emily Dickinson
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimmed;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to Time thou grow'st.
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Different forms of Urdu poetry
The most popular form of Urdu poetry that is used by poets is Ghazal. We call it subjective form of poetry. Ghazals are followed in popularity by a demonstrative from of poetry which is objective in nature. Nazm comprises of the features:
- It is an objective kind of poetry.
- often used for narration
- expressive or evocative,
- Moralizing.
- Ironic in nature.
Classical form of Nazm
Nazm has a focal point around which the entire subject of poetry revolves. In the classical from of poetry these Nazm where written under a specific pattern and thus they were classified as follows:
- Masnavi:
masnavi is one of the classical forms of poetry classified under the head of nazm. It is long descriptive poem used for narration. It has rhyming couplets. It is written on a particular theme. Mostly it is written on romantic, didactic and religious themes.
Marsia:
Marsia is another form of Urdu Nazm. This is particularly used to express sorrow and pain on the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain in Karbala. It is an elegy that is used specially in a month of Muharam by a large number of Muslims all over the world.
Qasida
This is the third and the most common form of Nazm. It is generally used to praise a Nobel and honorable personality. In the past it was used for the praising kings and also saints.
All these poems have a single focal point around which the material of poem revolves. These are written with logical reasoning and were drawn towards a conclusion at the end. But these are however quite different from the Nazm of the modern time. history tells about the modern style and evolution of Nazm which came into action later in the nineteenth century.
Difference between Ghazal and Nazm:
A lot of readers, who have just started to develop interest in Urdu poetry, are confused about the difference between Ghazal and Nazm.
Ghazal has the following characteristics:
- Ghazal is a shorter in size.
- It has rhyming couplets. These are called matla.
- Ghazals end at makta. Maqta might contain the pen name of the poet which is called takhalus.
- It is written in a rhyming pattern.
- Is divided in individual verses that represent a complete meaning.
- Verses don't lose its meaning if read individually.
- Verses might not be consistent.
Here are few characteristics of a Nazm:
- Nazm doesn't have any limit to for its size. Shikwa is an example of a long Nazm written by Iqbal. Another example of short Nazm of Iqbal is the Nazm called Ram.
- Nazm is not restricted to a matla or a makta.
- Is not restricted rhyming words rhyming words.
- Nazm bounds the verses to the theme of a Nazm.
- Verses are interlinked and won't make sense if read individually.
- It can cover more areas as compared to a Ghazals due to its descriptive nature.

Six Ways to Make Memorizing Poetry Easier
The best way to experience poetry is to hear it out loud. While some poems are made to be read, for many you cannot get their full effect without hearing the spoken word. Epic poems were used since ancient times to tell stories and teach lessons, a task which has been replaced by books, movies, television, and the Internet. There is still a place for poetry, however.
Whether it's in competitions, or just to entertain, reciting poetry can be a wonderful and fulfilling experience. Having children recite poetry that they have memorized can be a fantastic exercise on many levels. It can help with remembering details. It can be instructive in proper preparation and organization. Finally, it can teach valuable performance skills.
Memorizing poetry can be a challenge for some people, though. Here are some simple ways to make memorizing a poem a snap.
Start with a short poem. Don't be tempted to bite off more than you can chew. Committing a short poem to memory will give confidence that will come through on stage and at the next study session.
Pick a poem that is interesting to you. It's always much harder to study something that you could care less about. The more that the words or the poet mean to you, the more invested you will be in the process and the easier the poem will be to memorize.
Read the poem over and over again. Try to grasp the meaning of the poem, and don't just try to remember the words without any context. It can take dozens of times to reread the poem before you grasp its deeper meaning. Write down how the poem makes you feel. In other words, try to understand the poem, before you memorize it. It will make an enormous difference both in studying, and in performing.
Take a break from time to time. Give yourself a chance to rest and your brain the opportunity to absorb the material. Sometimes pushing harder and longer will only result in frustration. Stop intermittently, walk around, and give your conscious mind something else to occupy it for a little while. Better yet, take a nap. Studies show that we tend to learn better when the material is reviewed prior to sleep.
Make sure that you remain relaxed while you study. Don't think about deadlines, expectations, or performance anxiety. We know that stress has a negative effect on the brain, and specifically on memory. Clear your mind of extraneous thoughts. Sometimes yoga and meditation can help with this. For other people, though, just listening to soothing music can do the trick.
Try to make your study environment conducive to focus and productivity. It's no good to try to memorize a poem in a busy room with lots of distraction. Do what you need to filter out the background noise and remain set on your objective.
Take this advice to heart and you'll be pleasantly surprised with the results. Getting up in front of others to read poetry will be a fun experience, and you'll leave your audience awed and inspired.
