How to Write Short Stories for Small Children
Every person during his/her childhood has heard a lot of stories and fairy tales. Most of them are fictional barring a few that are based on actual events. It is not at all difficult to write short stories, all that you need is a good command over the language and a bit of creativity. Apart from these there are certain things that need to be taken care of like the beginning of the story, the ending etc.
If you want to try writing short stories for small children then here are few tips that will make your story the best.
An appealing and an interesting beginning will arouse the curiosity of the reader which will keep them glued to the story till the end. But before you start writing the first paragraph, you must decide on several story elements. Consider choosing the following before you write the first paragraph:
1. Setting (This is where the story takes place.)
2. Time (Commonly most short stories cover a day or up to a week. If your short story covers a month, you will probably need a shorter time period.)
3. Major conflict (that is the main problem that the characters will solve.)
4. Characters (it is advisable to have 2-4 characters in your story. The plot tends to get complicated if you have more than 4 characters)
5. Ending (There should be a resolution and all of the loose ends should be tied up.)
Once you have decided on the basic story elements, the next thing is to decide on the major element of the story I.e. the target audience. In the case of short stories it is the children whom we target.
After choosing the major story element you can start writing your story. If there are any conversations between the characters which are referred to as dialogues then just keep in mind that each time a different character talks, you need to indent and start a new paragraph. To come up with better dialogues it is suggested to put yourself in the shoes of the characters you are creating as this will help you come up with realistic dialogues.
Read the stories of other writers to get an idea of how to go about writing short stories. Consider reading some folklore stories, which are available on the internet.
Although you read stories of other authors it is really important to have your own style of writing. The story you write should be different from the ones you have read, in other words the story should be unique. This way you can attract more child readers and at the same time make a good name as a popular author in a short span of time.

Sudden, fierce, obsessed;
As if you're falling towards some star,
By its strong pull possessed.
Or sometimes there's a childhood sense
Of unselfconscious grace
Sustained within the safety zone
Of unprovoked embrace.
Sometimes there's the terror of
The searing pain of grief,
As if the loss of love were death:
Sheer scream without relief.
Or there's a sense of loveliness
Too precious to be lost:
A gift of all that makes life good,
Beyond constraint or cost.
Whatever signs you read, they all
Point in the same direction:
The self that lies beyond the self
In love and shared affection.
True love lies far beyond the will,
Yet you must choose to love:
Each day to put aside the self
And with the angels move.
RIGHTEOUSNESS REMAINS THE ROCK OF FAITH
Righteousness remains the rock of faith,
As what one does sustains what one believes.
Mere hypocrites might pray, the Prophet saith;
Actions must be words the heart conceives.
Do, then, what acts and rituals are due,
As faith becomes a flame that feeds on you,
No less than as a fire consumes dry leaves.
HAPPY TENTH
Happy Tenth! A milestone that seems
As natural as stones upon a hill,
Placed by wind and rain and swollen streams
Plunging down to work their wayward will.
Yet our will alone has placed this stele
That stands amid the wilderness of time,
Each choosing each each day that we might feel
Nearer to a grace we can't define.
The loves that last are cultivated flowers:
Half pure mystery, half purely ours.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR LETTERS, CARDS, AND CALLS
Thank you for your letters, cards, and calls,
Heartfelt prayers, and thoughts while I was ill,
A wind that bears us on when courage stalls,
Needed to sustain a weakened will.

Our suffering abated, life resumes,
Undergirt by strength more than our own.

Six Ways to Make Memorizing Poetry Easier
The best way to experience poetry is to hear it out loud. While some poems are made to be read, for many you cannot get their full effect without hearing the spoken word. Epic poems were used since ancient times to tell stories and teach lessons, a task which has been replaced by books, movies, television, and the Internet. There is still a place for poetry, however.
Whether it's in competitions, or just to entertain, reciting poetry can be a wonderful and fulfilling experience. Having children recite poetry that they have memorized can be a fantastic exercise on many levels. It can help with remembering details. It can be instructive in proper preparation and organization. Finally, it can teach valuable performance skills.
Memorizing poetry can be a challenge for some people, though. Here are some simple ways to make memorizing a poem a snap.
Start with a short poem. Don't be tempted to bite off more than you can chew. Committing a short poem to memory will give confidence that will come through on stage and at the next study session.
Pick a poem that is interesting to you. It's always much harder to study something that you could care less about. The more that the words or the poet mean to you, the more invested you will be in the process and the easier the poem will be to memorize.
Read the poem over and over again. Try to grasp the meaning of the poem, and don't just try to remember the words without any context. It can take dozens of times to reread the poem before you grasp its deeper meaning. Write down how the poem makes you feel. In other words, try to understand the poem, before you memorize it. It will make an enormous difference both in studying, and in performing.
Take a break from time to time. Give yourself a chance to rest and your brain the opportunity to absorb the material. Sometimes pushing harder and longer will only result in frustration. Stop intermittently, walk around, and give your conscious mind something else to occupy it for a little while. Better yet, take a nap. Studies show that we tend to learn better when the material is reviewed prior to sleep.
Make sure that you remain relaxed while you study. Don't think about deadlines, expectations, or performance anxiety. We know that stress has a negative effect on the brain, and specifically on memory. Clear your mind of extraneous thoughts. Sometimes yoga and meditation can help with this. For other people, though, just listening to soothing music can do the trick.
Try to make your study environment conducive to focus and productivity. It's no good to try to memorize a poem in a busy room with lots of distraction. Do what you need to filter out the background noise and remain set on your objective.
Take this advice to heart and you'll be pleasantly surprised with the results. Getting up in front of others to read poetry will be a fun experience, and you'll leave your audience awed and inspired.

Divorce is one of the most stressful events that could happen to a person. When a child is involved in the split. Many problems could happen, its effects on the child could be huge.
