In the case of multiple tribes or castaways who win reward or immunity, they are listed in order of finish, or alphabetically where it was a team effort; where one castaway won and invited others, the invitees are in brackets.
^1 There was no reward challenge due to tribal switch.
^2 Rafe was given a chance to award individual immunity to one member of Yaxha, where he chose Gary.
^3 There was no Reward Challenge due to tribal merge.
Episode 1: "Big Trek, Big Trouble, Big Surprise"
Reward Challenge: Tribes must through the jungles of Guatemala in an 11-mile trek. Bringing their belongings and some heavy supplies, they must locate an authentic Mayan pyramid at the end of the course. The first team to reach the pyramid wins.
Reward: Flint and the right to live amongst the ruins.
Immunity Challenge: Using their canoes, the tribes would paddle out to buoys in the lake to retrieve a torch hung from each buoy. Racing back to shore, four members would run to the top of the hill and begin hauling up the canoe with a rope. The remaining tribe members would rotate logs underneath the canoe, allowing it to roll up the hill, much like the technique the Maya used to move large items. Once the canoe passed a finish line, each tribe's remaining member would run to the top of the hill with the torch and light the victory cauldron. First tribe to light the cauldron wins Immunity. Should Yaxha win the challenge, they would receive their flint.
The sixteen new castaways learned upon arriving in the Guatemalan jungle that they would be joined by Bobby Jon Drinkard and Stephenie LaGrossa from Survivor: Palau as they will also compete in the season (though on opposing teams, not as teammates as before). They were also told that their first challenge would be an 11-mile (18 km) hike to a campsite near some Mayan ruins. After a grueling overnight hike, Bobby Jon's Nakum tribe narrowly defeated Stephenie's Yaxha tribe, giving them the right to live adjacently to the Mayan ruins, as the losing Yaxha moved on to a less desirable campsite where they have to make their own shelter. Though victorious at their first challenge, the long hike left most of the Nakum men cramped and in bad condition (Bobby Jon collapsed, Blake injured by barbed plant and sick, Jim and Judd endlessly vomiting, while Brandon was left unscathed), though medical practitioner Margaret tried to nurse them back to health. In their inaugural immunity challenge, the fatigue of the Nakum men hampered their performance, leading Yaxha to their first victory. Back at Nakum camp, Jim (the oldest of the Nakum males) revealed that he tore his bicep during the challenge, causing a tribe decision to eliminate one of the ailing men. In the end, Nakum deemed Jim was the most injured, and was unanimously voted out, 8-1.
Episode 2: "Man Down"
Reward Challenge: One at a time, the Survivors must sprint up a ramp, over a net run to a giant rope web, where they must climb underneath it and gather hanging bags. After untying a bag, they must drop into the water and race with their bag back to the start, where the next person would be waiting to leave. Each tribe member must attempt to get a bag once.
Reward: Fishing supplies
Immunity Challenge: Tribes were to be tethered to ropes in a pit of mud. The first tribe to drag the other to their side of the mud pit and grab a flag would win that round. The first tribe with three flags would win Immunity. Should in fifteen minutes, no tribe had reached a flag, the challenge will be modified in one-on-one match-ups.
At Nakum, Bobby Jon felt disappointment for losing the first immunity challenge, fearing that his Palau losing streak might happen again, while Blake's sickness grew worse. At Yaxha, Gary decided not to divulge his past as a former NFL quarterback, fearing that Yaxha might brand him as a threat or deem him as already wealthy; and as a solution, he introduced himself as Gary Hawkins and claimed that he works as a landscaper (actually his current job after retiring from American football). At the reward challenge, sickly Blake managed to narrowly outran Brian, winning fishing supplies for Nakum. After losing the challenge, Yaxha found themselves desperately finding for food, having reduced to eat ants, grasshoppers and minnows. While at Nakum, Blake's health condition turned for the worse as he started to hyperventilate, annoying Judd. At the immunity challenge, the tribes found themselves in a stalemate situation, causing Jeff Probst to resort in conducting one-on-one bouts. While Judd and Gary's match are ongoing, Danni (a sportscaster by profession) recognized Gary as the former quarterback Gary Hogeboom and revealed it to everyone else, giving Judd time to outsmart Gary, giving Nakum their first point. Two rounds later, Nakum remained undefeated, thus winning their first immunity challenge. Back at Yaxha camp, Jamie felt threatened by Stephenie, planned to vote her out, though Gary wanted to vote either Lydia (for being the weakest) or Morgan (for being lazy at camp). Later on, Brian turned on Gary about Danni's revelation during the challenge, but he quickly denied the allegations. Brian later plead to Gary that they never lost a challenge because of Lydia's weakness and admitted that Lydia was more valuable for her work ethic and campaigned for Morgan to go instead for not doing much at camp, despite her athleticism in challenges. In the end, Brian's plan to save Lydia worked, and Morgan was voted out 8-1.
Episode 3: "The Brave May Not Live Long, but the Cautious Don't Live at All"
Reward Challenge: Scattered around the challenge grounds are materials needed to construct an archeological tent. One sighted castaway must instruct his/her tribemates (blindfolded and tethered in pairs). After collecting all pieces, blindfolds can be removed and the tribe must assemble the tent. After assembling, the tribe must go back to their tribe mat. First to finish would win.
Reward: Pillows, blankets and tarp
Immunity Challenge: Castaways will be competing in an elevated net court with two hoops for both tribes. Tribes must face off in randomly selected threesomes, race to the ball thrown in the center, and then pass the ball to each other in an attempt to move within shooting distance of their hoops. If a player holds the ball, he/she cannot walk and must pass it to a tribemate (violating this will force the person tribe to hand the ball to the other tribe)The first tribe to throw the ball through a hoop would score for their tribe. The first tribe to score five points would win Immunity.
At Yaxha, Brian congratulated himself about his plan of blindsiding Morgan at the last Tribal Council. The next day at Nakum, zookeeper Cindy was fascinated about the howler monkeys waking them up every morning, but the loud noises left Judd aggravated. During the reward challenge, Yaxha collected their pieces first, but quickly stumbled as they build their tent, giving way to Nakum's third consecutive win. Back at camp, Yaxha started to be fed up with their usual corn mush meal, resorting to Gary and Rafe scouring for termites. Back at Nakum, Judd and Bobby Jon complained about Margaret's bossiness about modifying their shelter. During the immunity challenge, Stephenie got angry when she noticed Brianna inactive during their round and decided to pass the ball to an open Lydia, but Lydia walked with the ball (a breach in the challenge rules), forcing them to give the ball to Nakum. In the final round, Danni shot it in the hoop, giving Nakum another victory. Back at Yaxha, a limping Amy confessed that she sprained her ankle during the challenge, but assured everyone that she was fine. Jamie, also fuming about Brianna's dismal challenge performance, campaigned for her ouster, while Brianna talked to Stephenie about targeting Lydia. In the end, the tribe agreed that Brianna is a liability, and she was next to go in a 7-1 vote.
Episode 4: To Betray, or Not to Betray
At the Reward Challenge, the tribes were reshuffled; Brooke, Cindy, Judd, Margaret, Lydia, Stephenie, Rafe and Jamie were the new Nakm and Amy, Brian, Gary, Danni, Brandon, Blake and Bobby Jon were the new Yaxh. After the new Yaxh tribe won the Immunity Challenge, Judd betrayed his original Nakm teammates and helped to vote Brooke out (5-3).
Episode 5: Crocs, Cowboys and City Slickers
At the Reward Challenge, Yaxh won chips, drinks and a crocodile-proof swimming cage. Nakm won immunity and Blake was voted out as a result of his cocky attitude, (5-2).
Episode 6: Big Balls, Big Mouth, Big Trouble
Nakm won their second challenge in a row, and it was revealed that both tribes would be attending Tribal Council. As part of their reward, Nakm competed in an individual Immunity Challenge, which was won by Rafe. He was also able to watch part of the Yaxh tribal council. Margaret, due to personality conflicts, was voted out of Nakm (6-1), and Yaxh voted out Brian (5-1), perceiving him to be untrustworthy.
Episode 7: Surprise Enemy Visit
Yaxh won the reward of a jungle canopy zipline ride, then invited Nakm to camp for Danni's birthday. They swam together in the croc-proof cage. Nakm won the Immunity Challenge, and with Amy still suffering from an ankle injury that she had sustained days ago, Yaxh decided it was best to vote her out (4-1). After the vote, the four remaining Yaxh moved to the Nakm camp for the merger.
Episode 8: The Hidden Immunity Idol
It was revealed that there was a Hidden Immunity Idol located near the camp of the new Xhakm tribe (formerly of Nakm). The tribes merged into one and took the name Xhakm. At the Challenge, Jeff explained that it would be both for Reward and Immunity. However, only those who didn't feel they needed immunity would partake in the food reward while the others competed for immunity. Gary ended up winning the individual immunity, in effect saving himself because the former Nakm members (Stephenie, Jamie, Judd, Rafe, Lydia and Cindy) decided to stick together and had been targeting Gary. With Gary immune from the vote, Bobby Jon was now on the chopping block, but Stephenie convinced her allies to keep him in the game, allowing him to at least make the Jury. Instead, Brandon, arguably the strongest player of the remaining Yaxh members, was ousted (6-4).
Episode 9: Secret and Lies and an Idol Surprise
Gary found the Hidden Immunity Idol. Judd won reward (shared with Bobby Jon and Stephenie), and Jamie won immunity. Gary, targeted for elimination by the dominant Nakm alliance, surprised the tribe with the Idol at Tribal Council. With Gary safe from the vote once again, Bobby Jon was voted out instead (6-2-1) and became the first member of the Jury. He lasted three days longer than he did on Survivor: Palau.
Episode 10: Eating and Sleeping With the Enemy
At the very messy reward challenge, the team of Danni, Gary, Stephenie and Judd won a night away from camp and videos from home. After Rafe won Immunity, Jamie became increasingly paranoid about being voted out; Jamie wasn't originally the intended target that night, but his paranoia ended up annoying everyone else to the point where they made his worst nightmare come true, voting him out (6-2).
Episode 11: Everything Is Personal
Cindy won the reward challenge, and took Rafe with her on a reward of a feast, waterfall pool and massage. Rafe won Immunity again, and at Tribal Council, the Nakm alliance finally succeeded in eliminating Gary (6-1).
Episode 12: Price for Immunity
Name
Item(s)
Cindy
Chocolate chip cookies with milk, an overnight with her twin sister Mindy (received from Judd).
Danni
Plate of beef jerkey, Philly steak sandwich with fries (shared with Rafe) (Mystery Item), an advantage at the next immunity challenge.
Judd
Overnight stay with his wife Kristen and gave Cindy and Stephenie their love ones to spend an overnight with them.
Lydia
Mosquito net.
Rafe
Philly steak sandwich with fries (shared with Danni) (Mystery Item).
Stephenie
An overnight stay with her boyfriend Michael (received from Judd).
The final six's loved ones arrived at camp after the Survivor Auction. Danni won an Immunity Challenge advantage, and Judd's wife, Cindy's twin sister and Stephenie's boyfriend were permitted to stay overnight at camp. As a result of her advantage, Danni won the Immunity Challenge. Safe with immunity, Danni also succeeded in turning the game around for herself by convincing Stephenie, Rafe and Lydia that Judd was untrustworthy and too much of a threat to keep around. In a (4-2) vote, Judd was sent packing, but not before uttering a parting shot to the remaining contestants, quote "Bye, guys. Hope you all get bit by a freakin' crocodile. Scumbags."
Episode 13: Big Win, Big Decision, Big Mistake?
After winning the Reward Challenge, Cindy was given the option of keeping her newly won 2006 Pontiac Torrent or giving one to each of the other remaining contestants. Cindy chose to keep the car, a decision which upset Rafe in particular. After Stephenie won Immunity, Rafe successfully lobbied to get Cindy voted out (4-1).
Episode 14: Thunder Storm & Sarcrifice
In the final four, Rafe won his fourth individual immunity, and Lydia was voted out as a result of her popularity with the jury (3-1). After a two hour, 38 minute challenge, Danni won the final immunity challenge. She chose to vote out Rafe, because she felt she would have a better chance in the final two against Stephenie. (1-0). At the live reunion and finale, it was revealed that Danni beat Stephenie in a (6-1) vote. Stephenie had lasted 9 days longer than she did on Survivor: Palau.

Sheet Music Theory: Simple And Compound Time Signatures
After learning simple music theory such as the different types of notes and what the stave, time signature and clef symbols are you are then ready to delve further into learning about the different types of time that are found in music. Put simply the three types are simple, compound and irregular times. Simple time is the easiest to identify.
In simple time the top number will always be a 2,3 or 4 denoting that there will be that many beats per bar. This is very straight forward and is easy for beginning music students to pick up making it a good choice for beginner bands. The next type of time, compound, is also relatively easy to distinguish. It will be a number that is greater than four, but at the same time it must be divisible by three.
When you examine compound time you will notice that the notes will normally be grouped in threes. One example of this can be found in 6/8 time where you will find two groups of three eighth notes each. You can also find many different combinations of these. You might find two quarter notes and two eighth notes together in one bar or you might find two dotted quarter notes. You could also find a dotted half note.
While this may seem rather easy in and of itself it can be a bit tricky. If you were only counting the beats in slow music you would find it rather easy. Faster music can be a good deal harder however. It is much easier to just count the eighth note groups as if they were just one big beat. This means that in a rapidly moving piece of sheet music written in 6/8 time you would have two separate pulses.
The first one will be on the first of the eighth notes and will be a strong one. The second will be lighter and will hit on the fourth of the eighth notes. This will leave you with two countable beats for each bar. Each of these two beats will then be able to divide into three. This benefit to 6/8 time is what helps it to be an almost perfect marching tempo. As a matter of fact, many of the early 20th century military marches were written in this time signature.
Most of the time you will find 6/8 time described as having two dotted quarter notes per bar rather than having six eighth notes per bar. Some of the other compound time signatures include 12/8 and 9/8 time. In 12/8 time you will find four groups total. This means there would be four dotted quarter notes for each bar. In 9/8 time you will find three groups of three eighth notes which will be represented by three dotted quarter notes for each bar.
The last type of time is irregular time. The top number will always be higher than four but it must not be divisible by three. Some examples of irregular time signatures includes 7/4 and 5/8 time. Note that the top numbers are both higher than four but three will definitely not divide into them

Making Your Words Create Traffic
Make Your Words Create Traffic
"Actions speak louder than words," a very old adage, but words are how we communicate. The question arises, "How do we act if we don't know what to say or how to say it!"
Hi, I'm Don Penven, and I've been a professional writer for many years. I write technical information manuals and take the photos that accompany the products manufactured for use in law enforcement.
Words and pictures were my livelihood. But not long ago I developed an interest in Internet marketing and I discovered that I needed to learn a completely different style of writing.
After thoroughly investigating the many opportunities available on the Internet, and the many scams too, I decided I wanted to be an affiliate marketer. Briefly, it works like this: A number of very large and successful companies specialize in offering eBooks, electronically delivered "How To…"texts, on just about any subject you can think of.
The majority of the sales made by these publishers are through "Affiliate Marketers," folks like you and me. After looking over some of the inventory of ClickBank, I decided to register with them. The incredible part of this relationship includes the fact that there was no Out-Of-Pocket expense on my part, and commissions on sales average around 50% of the retail price. Some are as high as 75%!
OK, I'm registered. So how do I go about getting people to place their order through me? One method of generating sales includes putting up a website and displaying the eBook I want to sell. That of course would necessitate greater expense. And I knew nothing about building a website or securing a domain name. Can it be possible to be an Affiliate Marketer without a website?
Yes, this can be done with very little "Out-Of Pocket' expense.
In fact, the expense I incurred was less than what I would spend on a nice dinner for two.
The most frugal, yet the most effective way to work as an affiliate marketer involves writing and posting articles on Internet sites.
Many of these sites—mostly know as eZines—post articles for free.
Well if it were that simple, and if it really worked, many millions of people would be doing it. The truth is that although most people want to do it, they haven't a clue as to how to even get started—much less get published. I possess a measure of skill in writing technical manuals. But I quickly realized I needed help writing eZine articles.
What do I say, how do I say it? How and where do I submit them?
When researching ideas and background information for technical manuals, I often resorted to Internet searches. My favorite search tool was good ole Mr. Google. That's how I learned about Jim Edwards. Jim was a bankrupt husband and father desperate to care for his family. He began to write eBooks 10 years ago, and today he is among the top Internet marketers in the world!
Jim has published dozens of eBooks that have become Internet bestsellers. My first inclination was to buy his book on "How to Write An eBook in Seven Days," but I decided to start out small, with minimal personal cash outlay. The truth is that to list an eBook with ClinkBank costs about $50.00 … and I simply couldn't afford that plus the costs inherent with buying a domain name, building a website and paying a monthly hosting charge.
The eBook that caught my attention was, "Turn Words Into Traffic." The whole thrust of this manual is to lead the reader, step-by-step into crafting articles that would be posted on eZines, blogs and other similar sites. This eBook cost me 39 bucks, and so far it has been the most important expenditure I made in my quest to simply supplement my income.
Will it do the same for you?
Jim's book presented the whole process in simple, non-technical terms: Just a few of the topics covered include:
- You Can Make Money With This eBook. Not only does Jim tutor the beginner on how to create eZine articles, he says, "Nobody can sell an eBook better than someone who owns it." The fact is that in "Turn Words Into Traffic," Jim explains that you can make 50% on every copy of his eBook that you sell—
AND HE THEN PROCEEDS TO TEACH YOU HOW TO DO JUST THAT!
- Why promoting articles works very well.
- The article writing process.
- Targeting your audience for maximum impact
- Part One offers 11 steps to creating your first eZine article.
- Part Two offers 11 Sections that teach you the specific techniques for promoting your article and getting it ready for distribution.
"Turn Words Into Traffic" lists the 10 words to avoid using in your articles. This was the hardest part for me. I had written what I thought would serve as my first article—one promoting an eBook on digital photography. I ran a Word search on this piece and discovered I used the word "is" 11 times. But Jim says to avoid "is, has, had, etc.," so I did. I was dumfounded when I reread the article and saw how much better it sounded and how much more "active voice" it contained.
So how does an eZine article make you money if you don't have a website with credit card processing and a super sales pitch? Simple! Your article contains a link to the website of the eBook you are promoting. This link is coded so that when ClickBank (or other major marketer) gets the order, it automatically Credits your account with a commission.
NOW WHAT COULD BE SIMPLER THAN THAT!
The Internet gurus call this "Autopilot." While you are sound asleep or on vacation in the mountains or on the coast, folks from all over the world read your article and click on the link.
Did you hear that "Ca-Ching" cash register sound?
Still puzzled? How do people get to your article? They do it via search engines. Google, Yahoo, MSN are the biggies. Let's say that Mary Jones is looking for a recipe for "Pineapple Upside-Down Cake." She enters these "keywords" into the search window and up pops 10 pages of information. Many of the sites that come up are eZines—chock full of articles with Mary's sought-after recipe. The major search engines score or rate the most popular eZine sites—especially those with good reputations. Articles on these sites often end up on page one of the search results.
Enticing the search engines involves something we call "keyword placement." Here's an example: Let's say you search the keyword, "cure the common cold." Google shows that 5400 people used those keywords during searches this past month.
Without these keywords, the search engines will simply pass you by. "Turn Words Into Traffic" includes how to effectively place and use keywords in your article title and in the body of your text, thus increasing your chances of drawing attention to your article.
Another term or acronym you may not be familiar with is SEO, or Search Engine Optimization. "Turn Words Into Traffic" covers this important step too, especially when you write your first eBook and put it up for sale.
Getting anxious to start this great new endeavor?

Your Must Know Guide To Homeschooling State Laws
The federal government definitely plays a role in American education today, particularly in the attached to the funds it distributes to states and to local school districts, the specific rules regulating school attendance are the province of each individual state.
States generally require students to attend public school between the ages of seven and sixteen, unless they fall into one of several exempt categories. The upper and lower ages vary somewhat from state to state and are often tinkered with by legislatures, although no state requires school attend beyond the age of eighteen.
The exempt categories typically include private school attendance, private tutoring by a credentialed teacher and sometimes physical or mental disabilities that make attendance impossible. Successful completion of high school usually also exempts students school attendance, although some states require children younger than fourteen or fifteen to continue some sort of school attendance or regular instruction.
State education statutes also regulate details of public school operations such as the number of days of instruction, the qualifications of teachers, and the course of study required to be provided. Some states apply some of these regulations to private school programs as well; other states leave private schools relatively free from state oversight.
Although homeschooling is legal in one form or another in every state, not all states have statutes specifically covering situations where parents directly provide their children's education. Some states consider homeschooling to be a form of private education, subject to the same rules and regulations governing conventional private schools. Some states regulate homeschooling directly, requiring anything from a simple registration form to lengthy descriptions of the curriculum, complete with lesson plans and texts used. Some
states just want to know when families are homeschooling; others want families to get permission to homeschool from local school officials. Some states require periodic evaluation of homeschooled students by achievement tests or other means, just for statistical purposes or to determine whether students should be allowed to continue homeschooling.
Many states' laws are quite complex, with several options to choose from; often living with a particular law is much different from what a common sense reading of the applicable statutes would lead you to expect, and how laws are enforced can depend on who is doing the enforcing in any given year.
Rather than risking the homeschooling laws of your state, it is best to find out and be clear regarding the home schooling requirements of you state.
