Why You Should Own a Digital Camera or Camcorder
Digital cameras and camcorders seem to be quite a craze these days, together with the trend of taking pictures. It's probably because the value of keeping memories in concrete form and the need to satisfy our vanity by immortalizing our beauty in a still has significantly increased from the past. What more, the cost of owning a camera or camcorder is much lower these days than it has been in the past, with the quality of photographs getting progressively better with time as resolution increases and faster, sharper lens are developed. But why should you get a digital camera or camcorder? Is it really that necessary to document memories?
As a Teenager/Young Adult
Facebook, Myspace and Flickr are the "in" thing for youths these days. However, it's not just to be uploaded onto these sites that you should get a digital camera or camcorder. There are many memories in your youth that you will want to keep for future viewing, such as your photos with your friends in high school, college and university. Your partying days and sweet memories with your high school/college sweetheart may seem fresh now, but somewhere down the line when you get older, they will become a blur. It will be fun to notice how over time your friends, habits, or even romantic partners have changed, and keeping these photographs in an album to view in your autumn years will be a very good step indeed. It also can be shared with your future children! Taking videos will be even better, as videos restore very vivid memories as we watch them. You will feel as though you are reliving your best moments again and again.
As a Married/ Going to be Married Individual
You probably had/will have a professional photographer at your wedding, but who are you going to take to your honeymoon (I mean seriously, you aren't going to let someone tag along, are you?) You may say, we can use the built in camera on our cell phones, but trust me, you would want an excellent quality camera for this occasion. You will visit some beautiful places with good scenery and after all, this will be one of the sweetest moments of your life. If you capture some really nice photographs, you may think of enlarging them and hanging them up on your future home's wall, and for this you will need a high resolution image. Camcorders would be great to capture some of your activity on video too. So when you are celebrating your 60th anniversary, you can watch the videos, look at the photographs and walk through memory lane thinking about what a wonderful marriage you had. You can also take wonderful pictures of your anniversaries every year and compile them into a wonderful photo album!
As a Parent/Grandparent
Haven't you ever wished you had photos or journals of your childhood, so you could share them with your children, or just so you can go back to those innocent days of fun and laughter? Well, let's not deny your children the privilege of having good quality photographs to jog their memories when they are older. So it is indeed worthwhile to invest in a digital camera or camcorder. Just remember to keep your data in a safe, reliable place where you won't lose them.
